This task force was charged with examining and reporting on the university\u2019s historical relationship with slavery and its legacies. In undertaking this critical task, the group will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>familiarize itself with the best practices of the Universities Studying Slavery Consortium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop a comprehensive understanding of how the 海角社区 has been connected with slavery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>make recommendations for how the university can best share its fully recovered history with internal and external constituencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>engage the experience and expertise of members of the campus community as needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide updates on their work to the campus community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In early 2021, the group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/president\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2023\/09\/海角社区HistoryTaskforceFinalReport1.pdf\">compiled its final report<\/a>, which summarizes the taskforce\u2019s approach to its task, its key areas of focus and action, and its recommendations to university leadership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In early March 2020, 海角社区 President Daniel Lugo commissioned a task force consisting of faculty, staff, students, and alumni to examine and report on the university\u2019s historical relationship to slavery and its legacies.
