This system can blanket the entire campus and is used during emergencies, or other important times, to deliver messages and updates to the campus community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">QAlert<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">QAlert is the emergency notification system that we use to notify the campus community of an emergency, incident, inclement weather or class cancellations. Students, faculty and staff are automatically registered for QAlert. For more details, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/safety\/\">Campus Safety &amp; Police homepage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Incident Information on Website<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If 海角社区 has an incident on campus, an alert message will be added to the homepage of the website. This alert prominently displays critical, time-sensitive warnings and provides information to people visiting the 海角社区.edu website. Having this alert on the website provides a consistent and predictable way for users to find urgent information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prevention<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bicycle Registration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All students, faculty, and staff who wish to park a bicycle on campus must register it with Campus Police &amp; Public Safety. There is no fee for registering a bicycle. No person riding a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle, or other article which may prevent the operator from keeping at least one hand on the handle bars.<\/li>\n<li>Every bicycle being ridden from sunset to sunrise shall be equipped with a lamp on the front of the bicycle and with a red reflector on the rear.<\/li>\n<li>While riding a bicycle on the roadway and sidewalk, pedestrians shall always be given the right-of-way.<\/li>\n<li>Bicycles shall not be ridden upon any ramp, stairwell, wall, bench, fountain, or other structures or facility or on over shrubbery or flower beds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Any person in violation of the rules and regulations listed above will be subject to a $25 fine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>While bicycle helmets are not required for riding on campus, for safety reasons, it is strongly recommended that every rider wear one.\u200b<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div>        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/article>\n      <article class=\"accordion__panel\" data-accordion-panel>\n      <h3 class=\"accordion__header\">\n        <button\n            class=\"accordion__button\"\n            data-accordion-button\n            :aria-expanded=\"accordion.active.includes(1) ? true : false\"\n            @click=\"accordion.toggleActive(1, $event)\"\n        >\n          Bicycle Parking Regulations\n          <span class=\"accordion__arrow-btn\">\n                  <svg class=\"\" style=\"enable-background:new 0 0 10 6\" viewBox=\"0 0 10 6\">\n      <path d=\"M.3.3c.4-.4 1-.4 1.4 0L5 3.6 8.3.3c.4-.4 1-.4 1.4 0 .4.4.4 1 0 1.4l-4 4c-.4.4-1 .4-1.4 0l-4-4C-.1 1.3-.1.7.3.3z\" style=\"fill-rule:evenodd; clip-rule:evenodd;\" \/>\n    <\/svg>\n  \n          <\/span>\n        <\/button>\n      <\/h3>\n      <div\n        class=\"accordion__window\"\n        data-accordion-window\n      >\n        <div\n          class=\"accordion__content\"\n          data-accordion-content\n        >\n          <div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n  <ul>\n<li>Parking and storage of bicycles is only permitted in the student&#8217;s resident hall\/room, employee office, or any of the bicycle racks placed at various outside locations on campus.<\/li>\n<li>Indoor bike parking is <em>never allowed in corridors, stairwells, exit pathways, or outside on trees, metal poles, or anywhere where it may impede emergency exit or maintenance<\/em> around or in a building.<\/li>\n<li>Bicycles parked on campus must be locked in a bicycle rack with a chain and padlock or other locking device.<\/li>\n<li>All students not staying at the university during the summer months must take their bicycle home with them at the end of the school year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>All non-registered or improperly parked bicycles will be confiscated by Campus Police or Campus Services personnel<\/strong>. If the bicycle is secured, the lock will be removed at owner expense. Campus Police will hold registered bicycles at a charge of $5\/day. Non-registered bicycles well are held at a charge of $10\/day.<\/p>\n<p>Any bicycle confiscated or turned in to the Campus Police will remain there for a period of <em>thirty days<\/em>. After this period, any bicycle not claimed by the owner will be disposed of.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/article>\n      <article class=\"accordion__panel\" data-accordion-panel>\n      <h3 class=\"accordion__header\">\n        <button\n            class=\"accordion__button\"\n            data-accordion-button\n            :aria-expanded=\"accordion.active.includes(2) ? true : false\"\n            @click=\"accordion.toggleActive(2, $event)\"\n        >\n          Bicycle Safety\n          <span class=\"accordion__arrow-btn\">\n                  <svg class=\"\" style=\"enable-background:new 0 0 10 6\" viewBox=\"0 0 10 6\">\n      <path d=\"M.3.3c.4-.4 1-.4 1.4 0L5 3.6 8.3.3c.4-.4 1-.4 1.4 0 .4.4.4 1 0 1.4l-4 4c-.4.4-1 .4-1.4 0l-4-4C-.1 1.3-.1.7.3.3z\" style=\"fill-rule:evenodd; clip-rule:evenodd;\" \/>\n    <\/svg>\n  \n          <\/span>\n        <\/button>\n      <\/h3>\n      <div\n        class=\"accordion__window\"\n        data-accordion-window\n      >\n        <div\n          class=\"accordion__content\"\n          data-accordion-content\n        >\n          <div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n  <ul>\n<li>We recommend that all bicycles be engraved in the event that a bike is stolen or lost; this aids in the return of the article to the rightful owner. This is a service provided by the Campus Police &amp; Public Safety department.<\/li>\n<li>Lock your bike with a U-lock at one of the bike racks on campus, even if you are only going to be gone for a few minutes. Do not lock your bike to lamp posts or to stairwell railings. Use the bike racks. Lock it or Lose it!<\/li>\n<li>Check all components of the bike for proper working order, invest in a headlamp and flashing rear light for night time riding, obey all traffic control devices, and use proper hand signals. Not all drivers may be paying attention, so you must help as much as possible.<\/li>\n<li>If you believe your bike has been stolen or is lost, check all of the bike racks on campus. Then file a report with Campus Police &amp; Public Safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/article>\n  <\/component>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blue Light Emergency Phones<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The university has implemented the &#8220;Blue Phone&#8221; emergency phone response system throughout key areas of the campus. When activated by a push button, the caller has immediate verbal communication with an on-duty campus police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q Card Access<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Q Card is the official identification card of 海角社区. In addition, it is used to access all campus residence halls that are secured by card access control. Exits and doors in the residence halls are alarmed and monitored by the Campus Police. Many other areas around the campus are also secured by access control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By using this card, you agree to all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/safety\/q-card-terms-conditions\/\" title=\"\">terms and conditions<\/a>, including future amendments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Incident Reporting &#8211; Anonymous Reporting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bAs a member of the 海角社区 community, if you have been the victim of a crime, have knowledge of crime, or see something on campus that appears to be suspicious behavior or activities and would like to be able to report this to the police department but keep your anonymity, you can do so using our online&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.formstack.com\/forms\/?1145607-9GqidmxelD\">Anonymous Reporting form<\/a>. It allows you to report something directly to the police department without revealing any information about yourself.&nbsp;<em>Remember: See Something, Say Something, Do Something!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operation ID<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/queens-yhcyj.formstack.com\/forms\/personal_property_record\">Operation ID<\/a>&nbsp;is a nationwide program designed to discourage burglary and theft of valuables. It also provides a way for you to easily identify stolen property, and increases law enforcement\u2019s chances of recovery and conviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">海角社区 is committed to providing a healthy, safe and productive environment for our faculty, staff and students. Part of the commitment entails establishing policy, in conjunction with North Carolina State Law, and providing information regarding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/policies\/drug-alcohol-abuse-prevention\/\">drug and alcohol abuse prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prohibiting Weapons on Campus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consistent with North Carolina General Statute 14-260.2 banning weapons on campus, it is a violation of 海角社区 policy to possess, store carry or use any Weapon, as defined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/policies\/prohibiting-weapons-on-campus\/\">Prohibiting Weapons on Campus policy<\/a>, on the university campus or at a curricular or extracurricular activity sponsored by the university, except as otherwise specifically provided by law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>海角社区 is committed to our student\u2019s safety and strives for continuous improvement in our campus security and communication as part of our Security Master Plan.
