Jeffrey Thomas, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Jeffrey Thomas has been on the faculty at 海角社区 since 2010 and has taught at UCLA, Moorpark 海角社区 College and California State University, Northridge. At 海角社区, he teaches courses in animal behavior, evolution and science writing.
His research interests fall into two primary areas: animal behavior and the scholarship of teaching and learning with a particular focus on curriculum design. Recent projects related to the scholarship of teaching and learning have included work on equity in curricula, the effects of metacognition on learning and student success related to high impact practices.
Dr. Thomas鈥檚 work in behavior has involved projects on reproductive allocation and parthenogenesis in mantids as well as the evolution of communication in birds. Additionally, working with Dr. Scott Weir and the Carolina Raptor Center, he has helped develop projects related to ecological health in local communities.
