Fraternity & Sorority Life

Fraternity and sorority involvement can provide students with an invaluable experience during their time at 海角社区. Fraternities and sororities have existed on our campus for almost 100 years. Approximately 90% of our fraternity and sorority community are student leaders elsewhere on campus as well, from the Student Government Association to athletics to any of our additional clubs and organizations.

Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) looks to enhance the 海角社区 experience for its students by connecting members over shared interests and values and creating opportunities for personal growth through values-based leadership and engagement. Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is about making lasting friendships, committing to a common set of ideals, and enhancing your personal development.

FSL Values

Service

One of the advantages of being a part of a sorority or fraternity is the opportunity to help others in need. Each organization has local and national causes that they support through fundraising and awareness events. We鈥檙e a service-based school and our fraternity and sorority members are no exception鈥攖hey completed over 8,000 hours of community service last year alone.

Friendship

This is the principal foundation upon which all FSL organizations are built. As a member of a fraternity or sorority, you鈥檒l meet students from varying backgrounds and from all corners of the globe. Membership in a fraternity or sorority expands beyond your college years, as you鈥檒l explore new interests, learn new skills, and forge friendships that will last a lifetime.

Leadership

Through FSL involvement, you鈥檒l develop leadership skills that will benefit you long after graduation. You鈥檒l learn practical skills like coordinating events, managing budgets, running effective meetings, and motivating others. You may also hold office on an executive board, participate in committees, or represent your chapter on campus boards and governing councils.

Academics

FSL organizations will encourage and develop high scholastic achievement. Strong academics are encouraged through peer tutoring, counseling, special scholarships, and chapter study hours. This past semester, our FSL community averaged a GPA of 3.53!

Inclusivity

Sororities and fraternities alike will promote the exploration of personal identities and create an environment that celebrates diverse perspectives where all people feel respected, appreciated, and included. The FSL community is bonded over the common goal of creating a welcoming space for all.
